I am thrilled to announce my Sri Lankan cookbook will be available October 2020, published by Touchwood Editions! If you try Sri Lankan cuisine for the first time, you will likely have a moment of savouring serendipity. The combination of spices and key ingredients blend in a way like no other. Sri Lanka’s history of Portuguese, Dutch and English influences, along with its traditional cooking methods, and native fresh ingredients give Sri Lankan dishes their unique and signature flavours.
I grew up tasting all the delicious flavours of Sri Lankan cooking both while at home in the kitchen with my mother in Canada, and during our numerous trips to Sri Lanka. Striking a balance between the authentic dishes you find in Sri Lanka and the ones you can easily prepare in a North American kitchen is more doable than you would think. This is even more the case with the food from my parent's home town of Kandy in the Central Province of Sri Lanka.
In this region, often referred to as the hill country, a wide variety of fruits and vegetables flourish. Many of the vegetables are seasonal finds at local farmers markets in North America. And with South Asian products available at even local grocery stores, the possibilities are endless.
My recipes are nourishing, flavourful, and meant to make you slow down, sit, and savour every bite in the good company of family and friends! Go to "My Cookbook" and stay tuned for more information.
